The federal government is set to introduce next week a new directive which bans use of V-8 cars in urban areas by officials.
They are allowed to use these cars only for field visit, according to Haji Ibsa, public relations head of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation.
As per the new directive, state ministers, speakers of parliament, presidents and deputy presidents of federal high court, commissioners and deputy commissioner are barred from using V8 (8-cylinder) and Prado 4 cylinder cars in urban areas.
Locally assembled DFMS-50 automobiles will be made available for them and other senior government officials to use in urban areas, he said.
