Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed officially reopened Ethiopian Embassy in Asmara after 20 years of closure during his two days visit to Eritrea after concluding the 7th Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Forum in Beijing.
The event was attended by Eritrean President, senior officials and the diplomatic community in Asmara. Both leaders raised the Ethiopian flag.
It is to be recalled that Ambassador Redwan Hussien was appointed as Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Eritrea while Eritrea picked Semere Russom as its ambassador to Ethiopia.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dr. Abiy paid visit to Asseb and Massawa Ports. Later, both leaders witnessed the docking of Ethiopian ship at Massawa port for first time in two decades.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, President Isaias Afewerki and President Farmajo of Somalia held a tripartite Summit in Asmara on the enhancement of regional ties of partnership and signed a Joint Cooperation Agreement.
The leaders of the three countries agreed to bolster comprehensive cooperation that advances the goals of their peoples, build close political, economic, social, cultural and security ties and work in coordination to promote regional peace and security.
They have also established a Joint High-Level Committee to coordinate their efforts in the framework of the Joint Declaration; which is in inspired by the aspirations of their peoples.
Yesterday, _Dr. Abiy returned home after concluding his visits to China and Eritrea.
