The final signing ceremony of the revitalized South Sudan peace deal will take place late next week in the Ethiopian capital Addis Agana, government and opposition officials told the Nyamilepedia on Friday.

The ongoing efforts to end the South Sudan’s bloody conflict came as a part of IGAD framework initiative to revitalize the 2015 peace deal which collapsed in July 2016 following clashes between guards loyal to Machar, then First Vice President, and President Kiir.

The two men had signed a peace agreement in August 2015 known as the Agreement in the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.

Machar, who was the country’s vice-president until July 2013 was assigned to a newly created First Vice President position meant to accommodate him after the government refused to drop Wani Igga, the current vice-president.
