The 12th organizational congress of the Amhara Democratic Party (ADP) has retired four of its senior members with honor.
Kebede Chane, Ferhiwot Ayalew, Getachew Ambaye, and Mekonen Yelewemwesen are the officials whom the party has retired with honor.
The retired officials have served the party and the country in various positions.
The congress has also approved a proposal to exclude members who due various reasons cannot attend central committee meetings from central committee election.
Accordingly, a total of eight members who are attending their higher education as well as serve the country as ambassador have excluded from the election.
The members who are excluded from the election due to educational reason include Alemnew Mekonen, Legese Tulu, Getachew Jember, Ibrahim Muhammed, Desalegn Ambaw, and Banchirga Meles.
Kassa Teklebrehan and Zenebu Tadese who serve as Ambassador of Ethiopia to the U.S and Italy, respectively are among the members excluded from CC election.
The congress of the Amhara Democratic Party, which changed its name from ANDM, has also rejected the proposal to retire Demeke Mekonen, chairperson of the party and Deputy Prime Minister of the Country.
The congress rejected Demeke’s request for retirement saying that his presence is important in order to sustain the ongoing reform.
