Ethiopian Nationals Stranded in Tanzania, Sudan and Libya freed: MoFA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs facilitated the repatriation of Ethiopian nationals stranded under distressful conditions in Tanzania, Sudan and Libya.

The diplomatic efforts undertaken by the government of Ethiopia has been fruitful by suspending court cases for 231 Ethiopians detained in Tanzania, out of which, 65 of them have arrived to Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa this morning.

The International Organization for Migration IOM – UN Migration and Ethiopian Airlines have been assisting many of the migrants returning home.

The returnees vowed to work in hand in hand with the Government of Ethiopia.

Similarly, the Ethiopian Embassy in Cairo working closely with IOM in Tripoli and Ethiopian Airlines facilitated the repatriation of 15 Ethiopian nationals from Libya this morning and 21 the previous week.

On a similar note, Ethiopian Embassy in Khartoum in collaboration with local police facilitated the release 15 Ethiopians nationals detained in the city of Hajar for weeks by human traffickers.
