Hailemariam inagurates new Ethiopian Embassy building in Brussels

(EBC, June 17, 2016)- The Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels, accredited to the European Union, six Benelux and Baltic States, acquired a new chancery building.

Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who was in Brussels attending the European Development Days, inaugurated the new building located at the heart of Brussels.

Since the image of Ethiopia has been rising because of the fast economic growth and its role in regional and global peace and security initiatives the Mission that represents the country in Europe needs to have its own building.

Hailemariam said owning a building in Europe’s diplomatic city, is an achievement for the Mission.

As diplomatic hubs for Europe and Africa, Brussels and Addis Ababa has a lot to exchange.

This is among the discussion agendas between Hailemariam and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel during their bilateral meeting at the sidelines of the EDD.

Addis Ababa, the third largest diplomatic seat next to New York and Geneva has a lot to learn from Brussels, which places fourth in the list.

The two leaders have discussed about the possibility of twining Addis Ababa and Brussels.
