ir Traffic Controllers (ATCs) of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority are planning to go on a strike beginning Monday August 27, 2018 morning due to “unsatisfactory professional recognitions and benefits”.
Hence, they said they will not serve flights other than ambulance, military and VIP flights.
On June 18, 2018, the ATCs, who have been demanding proper professional recognition, salary increment and other benefits for the past eight years, had submitted their petition to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) asking for a swift response to their demands within a month’s period. They threatened to resign if their demands are not met.
Before going to the PM, the ATCs had also approached the former Minister of Transport Ahmed Shide for proper measures describing their jobs as laborious and stressful.
