Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed and Chancellor Angela Merkel and had a phone call today.
Chancellor Merkel congratulated him on Ethiopia’s economic and political reforms and the recent peace agreement with Eritrea, according to Fitsum Arega, Chief of Staff at the Prime Minister office.
“She officially invited him to visit Germany,” Fitsum said on Twitter.
Prime Minister Dr Abiy accepted the invitation, he added.
The Premier last Friday met Dr Gerd Muller, German’s Minister for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The Premier appreciated Germany’s continued support in TVET and other areas.
Ethiopia and Germany also signed a grant agreement amounting 100 million Euros last week.
Moreover, the two sides inked a Joint Declaration of Intent on special initiative on training and job creation.
According to the agreement, the government of Germany expresses its intent to support the training and job creation programme of Ethiopia financially and technically.
The main purpose of the Joint Declaration of Intent is to complement the Government of Ethiopia’s effort in relation with creating more job opportunities to its citizens.
Besides, the cooperation will create conducive environment for an appraisal mission for job partnerships to visit Ethiopia to identify the potential activities that will be implemented in Ethiopia by this special initiative.
