Abdi Mohammed Omar (Abdi Illey), the former president of Ethiopian Somali Region has been arrested following the lifting of his immunity by the regional council.
Yesterday, the Regional Council of Ethiopia Somali Region lifted the immunity of seven of its members, including former president Abdi Mohammued Omar, Rahma Haybe, head of Women & Children Bureau; Abdijamal Ahmed, head of the Justice Bureau; Ibrahim Adan, head of the Education Bureau; Deq A Buralle and Omar Mohammed, members of the Council.
In its session that was held yesterday, the Council has also approved the nomination of Mustafa Omer as acting president of the region.
